Over a period of time cork leather whether it is a wallet or handbag will change colour over a period of time. The colour can become slightly lighter in some areas. All cork products are sustainable and non toxic and most of all they are 100% waterproof. Cork leather will change over time. The cork leather will not crack or begin to peel due to the durability of the leather.
Cleaning the leather is quite easy to do. You can use any type of soap and a damp cloth. Basically dampen the cloth and lather in the soap and gently scrub your cork product i.e. handbag in a circular motion into the area where the blemish/stain is visible.
Make sure that you try not to use too much water as the cork material will not be able to absorb it. Just a small amount will do. Once you have finished make sure that your bag is dried thoroughly, try not to use a hairdryer!! Most cork products can be cleaned with a moisturising wipe that contains at least 99% water.
There are notably some special leather creams that you can use to clean your cork product. If you have been out on a hot sunny day with your cork product then that is where the leather moisturising product will come in very useful as to keep your product moist and supple and make it last longer.
To improve the durability of your cork bag or purse, clean them regularly, making sure that you let them dry naturally in a horizontal position to keep their shape. If you are using soap make sure that you rinse out the soap residue. Just remember that cork is completely waterproof but that does not mean that you can put your product in a washing machine!!

So just remember cork fabric is very durable as leather and very versatile as a fabric. The material as you know is durable and environmentally friendly and water resistant. If you are using a cork handbag on a regular basis then always make sure that you check for stains on a regular basis. Most stains can be removed with warm water/damp cloth. For severe stains you can use a soft bristled brush. There is no need to immerse your cork bag or purse in water!!
